Chief Technology Officer

Campus Technology Services at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a full time Chief Technology Officer position.

Description of Responsibilities:  The Chief Technology Officer provides vision and leadership in achieving the information technology goals of the College. The CTO oversees a strategic plan to ensure that the College is technologically advanced and positioned for continuous improvement. The CTO actively collaborates with various campus constituencies to successfully direct and coordinate resources and operations. Campus Technology Services has a staff of 40 employees that report to the CTO through assistant directors in the areas of Administrative Technology, Instructional Technologies, Network Services, Telecommunications, Instructional Support, and Technology User Support.  The CTO reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and works closely with the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance.

Required Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree, preferably in information science, computer science, systems engineering or a related technological discipline. The ideal candidate will be an experienced information technology leader with a demonstrated record of building and leading a robust organization with the highest standards of professional and technical excellence. The candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience managing complex information technology projects and a strong record of performance and achievement in technology management. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential. Demonstrated skill in building relationships, fostering employee development, problem-solving, analysis and decision-making are necessary. The position is strongly focused on the ability to manage multiple projects and motivate teams to produce high quality results in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:  Master's degree in a technology or management field. The candidate should have 5-7 years of experience managing and implementing administrative and academic technologies as well as experience implementing major IT projects across a complex organization. Examples of such projects would include successful renovation or new construction of buildings, implementation of emerging technology systems, technological integration of multiple campus locations/sites, digital asset management systems, or virtualization.

Description of Department:  Campus Technology Services (CTS) is a team of forty IT professionals working together to provide technology solutions for SUNY Oswego. The CTS staff is an integral part of the campus supporting teaching, learning and the administrative business of the College. CTS provides excellence in service while also looking ahead to new and emerging technologies. The department delivers a broad set of infrastructure, applications and services that are vital to the operation and mission of the College.  Technology is readily and seamlessly available to faculty, students and staff through the student information system, classroom technologies, computer labs, online learning management system, and the campus network.
