Associate Director of Communications for Content

The SUNY Oswego Office of Alumni Relations and University Development Communications invites applications for a full-time position of Associate Director of Communications for Content.  The associate director is responsible for writing, editing and proofing electronic and print content coming from the Office of Alumni Relations and University Development.

The associate director serves as associate editor of the thrice-yearly 77,000-circulation OSWEGO alumni magazine; and writes, edits and sends various monthly e-publications.

As chief Web editor for the department, the associate director maintains the digital edition of OSWEGO magazine, coordinates alumni and development departmental website updates, develops content for social media and e-communications, and creates multimedia content including video and photo slideshows, and oversees digital asset archiving.  The associate director also supervises editorial and student interns.

The ideal candidate will have excellent reporting/interviewing, writing, proofreading, and copyediting skills, fact-checking ability, thorough follow-through on projects, strong attention to detail, organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment. 

Required Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in a related field, and a background in journalism or communications field.

Preferred Qualifications:  Preference given to applicants with three years or more of professional experience, and those who have familiarity with Wordpress or other blogging software, content management systems, as well as social media platforms.
