The Department of Psychology at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a tenure track position in Developmental Psychology, Human Development, or a related field at the Assistant Professor level.
Review Date: Review of applications will begin January 4, 2010 and will continue until the position is filled.
Salary: Commensurate with rank and experience

Description of Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities may include but are not limited to gerontology, adolescent development as well as core developmental courses such as child development, statistics or research methods, and courses in the candidate’s specialty area; scholarly productivity, advisement, and service are also required.
Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Human Development, Developmental Psychology, or a related field no later than Spring 2011. The ability to develop/infuse a multicultural perspective into the curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of potential for teaching excellence, a quality research program, civic engagement, and credentials in developmental psychology.

Description of Department: The department has BA programs in both Psychology and Human Development with over 500 students and 15 full-time faculty. The Human Development program, housed in the Psychology Department, is an upper-division major incorporating applied learning experiences and a multidisciplinary approach to life span development. The department also contributes to interdisciplinary programs including a Gerontology minor, Cognitive Science, Linguistics, Philosophy/Psychology, and Public Justice Majors, a 5 year BA/MBA program, and a graduate program in Human-Computer Interaction. Faculty have federal funding for longitudinal research programs in human development and neurobehavioral toxicology. The department is committed to excellence in undergraduate research. Further, the department is committed to fostering the success of students participating in the New York State Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (C-Step) and the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program.
