The Department of Biological Sciences at the State University of New York at Oswego announces the opening of a one-year, full time Visiting Assistant Professor position.

Review Date:  Review of applications will begin May 19, 2008 and continue until the position is filled..

Salary:  Commensurate with experience.

Date of Appointment:  August 27, 2008

Description of Responsibilities:  Teaching responsibilities will be in the areas of genetics and evolution and will consist of 12 contact hours per semester.  Excellent opportunity for course and professional development.

Required Qualifications:  MS in Biological Sciences.

Other Preferred Qualifications:  PhD preferred.

Description of Department:  The Department of Biological Sciences offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Biology and Zoology to approximately 450 majors.  The department is in a period of significant change and has recently revised its curricula, is planning for new facilities, has experienced multiple retirements and hired several new faculty thus creating opportunities for the successful candidate at many levels.  Resources include a 400+ acre field station, an NSF-funded Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Center, the Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Center, and an Environmental Research Center.  Links to more information can be found at: www.oswego.edu/biology.
