The Department of Music at the State University of New York at Oswego announces the opening of a one year Visiting Assistant Professor position.  This position entails a full-time, ten-month contract beginning August 2008.

Review Date:  Review of applications will begin March 31, 2008, and will continue until the position is filled. 

Salary:  Commensurate with rank and experience

Date of Appointment:  August 2008

Description of Responsibilities:  Direct three choral ensembles (large undergraduate choir, select chamber/jazz ensemble, large community chorus).  Additional teaching areas as needed by department may include: applied voice, basic music theory, music appreciation or musical direction for annual Musical Theatre Production.

Required Qualifications:  Master’s degree.  Prior university or public school teaching experience.  The successful candidate will demonstrate and document a record of effective teaching, choral conducting, and excellent musical artistry.

Preferred Qualifications:  Doctoral degree.  Background in Music Education and ability to promote student success in a multicultural and global community a plus.
