The Department of Counseling & Psychological Services at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a Tenure Track, Assistant Professor Position.
Review Date: Review of applications will begin December 3, 2007, and will continue until the position is filled
Salary: Commensurate with rank and experience
Date of Appointment: Fall Semester, 2008
Description of Responsibilities: Teach graduate and occasional undergraduate classes in a School Counselor preparation program. Teach counseling core courses such as vocational development, appraisal, group methods, counselor orientation, family systems, and practicum/internship; scholarly activity; advisement; university and professional service.
Required Qualifications:
- Earned Doctorate in Counselor Education or related field
- Eligibility for New York State Certification in School Counseling
- School Counseling Experience
- Ability to address issues of diversity in the counseling process
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated productivity or potential as a teacher/scholar
- Experience or willingness to work with the professions national standards (CACREP)

Description of Department: The CPS Department is housed within the NCATE-accredited School of Education and prepares graduate level students in one of three programs. The Mental Health Counseling Program prepares students to work in agency settings and leads toward New York State Licensure as a Mental Health Counselor. The Counseling Services Program primarily prepares students to work as school counselors. The School Psychology Program is nationally accredited and trains school psychologists. The CPS Department has a long-standing reputation for developing high caliber professionals in these areas.
