Do you need one?
- Yes, if you are collecting information of any kind, including log file data.
How is a privacy policy created?
- A privacy policy can be (1) very simple or (2) quite detailed, describing what information is collected and how it is used.
Example 1: Any information you provide is strictly confidential and will not be sold, rented, or abused in any way.
Example 2: For each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically recognizes information regarding the IP address and domain.
We collect the domain name and e-mail address (where possible) of visitors to our Web page, the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail and aggregate information on what pages consumers access or visit to statistically analyze site usage and to improve our content and layout. We believe these uses allow us to improve our site and better tailor it to meet our users' needs.
Any identifiable personal information collected shall only be used internally by the College or its agents. We will not give, sell, rent, or loan such information to any third party, unless approved or requested by you, or unless we are legally required to do so.
This site contains links to other sites. www.college.edu is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites. Since we cannot guarantee the same level of privacy and security of these sites, we recommend that you read their privacy policies, which may differ from ours. |
