Here's some tips that will help make your Web publishing life here easier.
Question: How do I log into my page to edit it?
Answer: Click on the "Last Updated" link at the very bottom of the page.
Question: I tried to edit a page but it won't let me! What gives?
Answer: Check these things:
- Make sure you are authorized by your department to edit the pages. Submit this form (PDF file) to add new editors to an OmniUpdate account.
- Check to be sure you are logging in to the right page,
- Make sure you are using your email username and password.
- If the page is checked out by someone else, email the webmaster .
- If none of this helps, call the help desk at 312-3456.
Question: I logged into my page but it won't let me edit anything. What gives?
Answer: Be sure to click the "Check Out & Edit" button first, to enter the editor.
Question: I edited my page but nothing shows up when I look at it on line.
Answer: If you copied and pasted from a Word document, you will need to go back and edit the page. There is a 'paste from Word' button that should be used in OmniUpdate to remove extra Word code.
Question: I'm in the editor and a lot of these tool look familiar, but not all. How can I find out what all these tools do?
Answer: To the far right of the tool bar, on the top row, click on the round, blue question mark button. This will open a page explaining all about the tools.
Question: How do I delete a folder I made that I don't want any more?
Answer: Click of the "File Manager" tab and then the "Delete" icon to the right of the folder you want to delete. Your folder has to be empty before it can be deleted though.
Question: How do I make sub-directory navigation also show up indented under a navigation category on high-level pages?
Answer: This is something that has to be enabled by the Webmaster. Just be sure to logically group links within directories so they make sense. Then the Webmaster can set it up for you.
