Campus Concept Committee Meeting
February 18, 2002 - Provost's Conference Room
Attendees: David King, Ilma Barros, Jerry DeSantis, Wayne Whitfield, Sue Camp, Greg Lawson, David Hill, Chris Hebblethwaite, Cheryl Klaus, Casey Walpole, Craig Graci, Mike Flaherty
1. David King decided not to seek a one semester replacement to the committee for Al Lackey due to the difficulty picking up the work of the committee for a short period of time.
2. Jerry DeSantis is meeting with the Arts and Sciences chairs tomorrow to update them on construction and renovation plans.
3. Sara Varhus has an updated proposal for the committee. This was deferred until the next meeting.
4. Johnson Hall and Rich Hall are under construction.
5. Maintenance/Repair projects are in design with the hope that these can take place during the summer of 2002. These include the Snygg Hall Computer Science corridor and the Mahar Hall lobby/elevator projects.
6. The committee accepted the Cannon Partnership Campus Center Program Study Design with the following reservations:
6.1 Concern regarding the exterior flow along the spine pathway specifically,
- 6.1.1 Location of the Auditorium/Lecture Hall
- 6.1.2 Location of the Retail Space
6.2 Concern regarding traffic flow specifically,
- 6.2.1 Increase traffic flow on Centennial Drive
- 6.2.2 Location and traffic around the loading dock
6.3 The # 10 space in the southeast corner of the Honors Program,
Interdisciplinary Group, and CLET area (located on Cannon's +308 page) be designated as shared meeting space for those groups, rather than as a classroom.
6.4 Discussion ensued regarding the food/seating in the Campus Center and Swetman/Poucher. Greg Larson agreed to bring to the next meeting feedback from the Student Association Greek Affairs Director.
7. The group agreed to meet February 25, 2002 at 12:40 p.m. to continue discussions.
