Minutes of 2/11/02

J. DeSantis presided over the meeting as D. King was out of town. Cannon's Campus Center/Swetman-Poucher program group representation was reviewed.Discussion involved the following:

1.Building entries were clarified.

2.Concern was registered regarding the building flow into the outer pedestrian corridor (spine), particularly with regard to the placement of the retail "square" and the auditorium.

3.Some committee members and many students do not like the conceptualized placement of the auditorium.It was clarified that the auditorium is not part of Cannon's design contract, but will be addressed with Cannon and especially as it relates to the Swetman-Poucher project.

4.It was requested that the #10 space in the SE corner of the Honors Program, Interdisciplinary Group, and CELT area (located on Cannon's +308 page) be designated as shared meeting space for those groups, rather than as a classroom.

5.In communicating design information, it was reinforced that the Campus Center project be referred to as a convocation center that houses an ice arena, as opposed to an ice arena that can hold convocation functions.

The next CCC meeting will be on 2/18/02 and the dissemination of Campus Center/Swetman-Poucher plans will be discussed.
