Campus Concept Committee Meeting
November 15, 2007

Attendees: Tim Farnsworth, Mike Pisa, David King, Jerry DeSantis, Tim
Braun, Casey Raymond, Thad Mantaro, Susan Camp, Kelly Roe, John Huonker, Rameen
Mohammadi, Susan Coultrap-McQuin, Nancy Bellow, Mike Flaherty
1. Jerry DeSantis welcomed Thad Mantaro who is providing the
connection between civic engagement and sustainability.
2. Project Updates:
2.1 Sciences – EYP has been selected as
the architects for the project. Casey is continuing to meet with affected
groups to discuss the concept map. He will meet with Jerry DeSantis when
this is complete to share comments from various areas. The architects are
scheduled to begin their work in January 2008. Casey indicated the
sciences building at Hamilton College is a good example of what is being
considered.
3. Nancy Bellow facilitated a discussion
of the vision and mission statement development for sustainability.
Highlights of the discussion include:
3.1 The link to Engaging Challenges –
The Sesquicentennial Plan
3.2 The vision should reflect what we
want to look like as a result of our mission
3.3 The mission should reflect our
purpose and include actions or goals to obtain our vision.
A fruitful discussion took place and Nancy
agreed to take the points raised and provide a draft for review. The
group was encouraged to suggestion ‘bullets’ to accompany the mission statement
and submit them to the concept list.
4. The next meeting was scheduled for December 7th at 11:30
a.m.
