Auxiliary Services is an independent not-for-profit corporation located on the SUNY Oswego campus. Our goal is to provide quality ancillary services to the college community. We are a progressive, student-oriented operation, employing over 500 student employees.

Who qualifies for student employment?
Any student who maintains full time status (12 credit hours undergraduate, 9 credit hours graduate) is eligible for employment with Auxiliary Services.

HOW DO I GET HIRED?
Any student seeking employment with Auxiliary Services must submit a completed Student Employment Application to each unit for which they wish to work.

How many hours may I work?
Auxiliary Services recognizes that your primary goal while attending college is that of student. With that in mind, we offer flexible shifts to accommodate various class schedules. The average student works 8 to 12 hours per week. While classes are in session, you may be scheduled for and work no more than 20 hours a week, if the job permits. During recess periods and the summer you may be scheduled up to and work no more than 30 hours a week.

You are paid bi-weekly. You are paid on an hourly basis, in 10th of an hour increments.

How much do I get paid?

All regular student employees earn a starting wage of $7.15 per hour.

Group Leaders
After working for Auxiliary Services for a minimum of 150 hours and becoming familiar with the corporation, student employees may apply for the position of group leader.  This position is one of leadership and service.  Group leaders are responsible for helping train, direct and guide other student employees in accomplishing their duties.

Group leaders earn an additional $.25 per hour based on their hours of employment.

Are there any benefits?

YES. Besides wages and valuable work experience, there are also the advantages of convenient campus locations and work schedules compatible with your classes. Student employees are covered by workers' compensation, disability and unemployment insurance. Direct deposit is available. Also, depending on the location and number of hours worked, employees in Dining Services are entitled to meals and/or snacks and employees at the College Store, and its affiliates and the Accounting & Administration office are entitled to a discount at the College Store.

How do I set up direct deposit?

As a benefit to our student employees, Auxiliary Services offers direct deposit of paychecks directly into an employee's account, including an account at banks, credit unions and most other types of financial institutions.

It takes approximately two pay cycles to have a direct deposit take effect.  Once direct deposit begins, students will receive an Employee Earnings Slip on pay day.  The direct deposit form is available at all locations, or an application is available to download by clicking on the following link: direct deposit form

The form must be completed and returned in person to the Accounting Office, 506 Culkin Hall.  PLEASE NOTE:  Direct deposit will remain in effect if you stop working for Auxiliary Services and then restart at the same or different Auxiliary Services' location.   If account information changes that pay is direct deposited into, please notify the Accounting Office as soon as possible in order to stop direct deposit or update accont information.

Stopping direct deposit

In order to stop direct deposit, you must provide the Accounting Office with written notification to terminate the authorization.  Auxiliary Services and the Financial Institution will honor your request in a reasonable amount of time.

I was recently hired.  Can I complete my tax forms online?

YES, however they cannot be submitted electronically as the Federal and State government require us, the employer, to retain tax forms with an original signature.  PLEASE NOTE: In order for us to process a pay check, all forms must be printed, signed and returned to 506 Culkin, along with proper identification to satisfy Form I-9.

  • Complete lines 1-4, below dotted line.
  • If claiming withholding, complete line 5 (and line 6 if you want an additional amount withheld.)
  • If claiming exemption from taxes (you must meet the qualifications under line 7), and write 'EXEMPT' on line 7.

NY State Income Tax- Either:

Form IT-2104 or Form IT-2104-E
(both viewable with Adobe Acrobat version 6.0 or higher)

  • If claiming withholding, complete Form IT-2104: Employees Withholding Allowance Certificate
  • If claiming exemption from taxes, complete Form IT-2104-E: Certificate of Exemption from Withholding.  You must meet the criteria listed on lines 1, 2, and 3 of the form.

Employment Eligibility Verification: Form I-9
(viewable with Adobe Acrobat version 6.0 or higher)

  • Complete Section 1.  Bring appropriate documentation establishing identity and employment eligibility to 506 Culkin Hall.  Most common forms of identification are:

    List A:         U.S. passport
                            or
    List B & C:   Driver's license/permit or School ID card                  and            
                      Social Security card or Birth Certificate
