- Maintain a faculty/staff profile of research and special project interests.
- Match faculty/staff projects with potential sponsors.
- Notify faculty/staff of funding opportunities appropriate to their interest.
- Maintain a current resource collection of funding sources.
- Acquire guidelines and application forms.
- Assist with interpretation of guidelines and preparation of agency forms.
- Technical and editorial critique of proposal.
- Discuss budget categories and provide assistance with the development of an appropriate inclusive budget.
- Identify the appropriate indirect cost rate based on the source of funds, written sponsor policy, level of minimum aggregate recovery, location of project and nature of the account.
- Submit (as required) assurance reports and policies to maintain an active, approved an current institutional animal care and use committee and human subjects committee in compliance with state and federal procedures.
- Assist with the development of competitive proposals.
- Review of final application for completeness and compliance to policies and procedures, as appropriate.
- Obtain administrative approval.
- Make agency required number of copies.
- Submission to agency.
- Grant award / contract negotiations.
- Establishment of a Research Foundation project account.
ORSP Pre-Award works in conjunction with other campus resources such as the Conference Center, Penfield Library, Instructional Computing Center, Learning Resources, Center for Innovative Technology Transfer, Publications, Printing & Central Duplicating to provide necessary services to project activity and appropriate reimbursements. It is essential that Project Directors discuss their anticipated needs during budget development prior to proposal submission to ensure adequate funds are allocated for these campus services.
