A Word from the Director
In today's highly competitive environment we must give faculty the tools to develop their scholarly programs in order to compete in the marketplace for resources. We have created an environment to broadly promote scholarly and creative activities to include the sciences, technology, humanities and the arts. This presents the greatest opportunity for all of our students to participate in faculty mentored activities.
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs has been configured to provide maximum support for searching for grants, submitting proposals and managing contracts if one is fortunate enough to receive an award. Securing funding, however, is more complex than just learning how to write a proposal. Our office sponsors workshops in all aspects of the grant seeking process. In particular, initiating discussions with funding agencies and foundations in advance of submitting a proposal is especially important. To this end, communications skills and the development of perspective about the proposed activity are the most important skills that a faculty member can acquire. The workshop schedule for this and other topics can be found here. Archived materials from previous workshops are also available on that page.
