Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP)

SUNY RF logo

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is responsible for the development, coordination and financial management of all contracts and grants at the College. All externally sponsored projects for research, scholarly/creative services utilizing SUNY Oswego facilities and/or personnel must be processed and administered through ORSP.

A project is externally sponsored if a grant or contract is awarded to the College in support of a specific activity. External sponsors consist of federal and state agencies, private foundations, professional organizations, and business. Sponsored projects include, but are not limited to research, scholarly and creative activities, curriculum development and workshops or meetings.

All submissions to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) agencies must be complete and delivered to ORSP for immediate submission at least 24 hours prior to the deadline. This includes the routing sheet signed by the Project Director, any Co-Project Directors, department chair and division dean. These applications must be submitted through a system called eRA Commons, which continues to have major submission issues beyond our control. We are no longer confident that last minute applications will pass all the necessary validation stages, and the option of a two day window to address problems has been deleted from the process.
