- A student, along with a faculty member, will devise a learning agreement containing a minimum of 13 credit hours, at least six hours of which are at the 300-level or above. The proposed agreement is to be submitted to the Cinema and Screen Studies Director for approval, typically by the end of the student's sophomore year. The sequence of courses comprising the learning agreeement may be from any one of several different departments participating in the Cinema and Screen Studies Program. During their senior year students must enroll in a one-credit capstone course (Css 496) that includes the public presentation of an original film or video, screen play or scholarly research related to the major.
Cognitive Science
At Oswego we offer majors leading to the
Baccalaureate of Arts and the Baccalaureate of Science degrees in Cognitive
Science, as well as a Cognitive Science Minor. Both the B.A. Degree and the B.S.
Degree provide a sound grounding in the field of cognitive science through
courses in which students explore cognitive concepts, methods of inquiry, and
classic intellectual issues. Moreover, both degrees feature a 12 semester hour
"learning agreement" which provides an opportunity for the student to explore
some particular aspect of the field in depth, to develop an interest into a
wealth of focused knowledge. The B.S. Degree is a strict extension of the B.A.
Degree consisting of additional course work in artificial intelligence and
psychology. The minor provides a broad introduction to the field and can easily
be tailored to nicely complement virtually any major.
