New Student Orientation: Orientation programs are part of the official WELCOME to SUNY Oswego. Incoming students and their family members are introduced to the academic, cultural and social climate at Oswego by a team of current students, staff, faculty and campus administration members. Students establish ties to the campus community through their orientation program before moving to Oswego to begin coursework.
First Year Programs: There is a wide range of programs available to assist first year students with both their academic and social transition to SUNY Oswego. First Year Advisement and FirstChoice are comprehensive programs that help ensure First Year Student success.
The Johnson Hall First Year Residential Experience: First Year Students have the option to live in Johnson Hall where academic success and active involvement in the campus community are encouraged.
Transfer Services: The Transfer Services Office works collaboratively with a variety of campus offices to provide services and programs designed to assist students in their transition into Oswego.
Out of class notices: Student Advisement will notify faculty members when a student is absent from campus for three or more consecutive class days due to circumstances beyond his/her control if the student is unable to do so him/herself. The notice does not legitimize the absence. It merely serves as an intial contact on the student's behalf. Once the student is able, he/she should establish communication with each instructor to make arrangements for completing work missed. Documentation is required upon the student's return to campus.
Course Withdrawal: Student Advisement assists students who need to drop one or more classes during the fall or spring semester. Depending on when the student drops the class(es), documentation may be required. There is a fee for late course withdrawals. The dates when fees and/or documentation are required are listed on the campus academic calendar.
Withdrawal from College: In extreme cases, it may be necessary for a student to withdraw from all his/her classes and leave campus. The withdrawal process begins with Student Advisement. Documentation is required to finalize the process. The student will discuss the process with one of our advisors who will inform him/her whether or not a refund of tuition is possible. Fees are non-refundable. More information - Withdrawal from College, Military Leave of Absence.
