Office of Learning Services We know that every student accepted at SUNY Oswego has the potential for academic success. We know we can help students take charge of their learning. The Office of Learning Services (OLS) is staffed with instructional and support specialists in writing, reading, mathematics and study skills, as well as counselors who provide academic and financial planning. OLS oversees both the Math and Writing centers offering individual help, as well as the Learning Skills Center, which provides courses, tutoring services and study groups that encourage active learning strategies.
Academic Advisement Every student is assigned an academic advisor. Specially trained advisors work with new students during Orientation and serve, along with trained students, as First-Year Advisors for freshmen. Within each academic department there is an advisement coordinator who serves as a resource to the department and its majors. Some larger programs have their own advisement centers. In addition, the Student Advisement Center works with undeclared students and provides support for all students with questions about their academic plans.
Campus Technology Services Campus Technology Services (CTS) provides computing and technology support for the academic mission of the college. Physical facilities include the four campus computer labs located in Mahar, Penfield, Snygg and Swetman halls. In addition, CTS provides technical support for three computer labs in the Hart, Oneida and Scales residence halls furnished by the Office of Residence Life and Housing, and for departmental computer labs that request help. CTS provides technical support for Advanced Technology classrooms in Lanigan, Mahar, Park, Piez and Snygg halls, as well as audiovisual services for all campus classrooms.
