What should I bring?

  • Government- issued picture identification (e.g. driver's license, non-driver's license, Sheriff's I.D. or passport). This is critical because you will need this identification to conduct all college business and transactions.
  • Medical Insurance card
  • Medication and prescriptions
  • Linens (pillow, blanket, towels, etc.). All SUNY Oswego residence hall mattresses require "extra-long" twin sheets (33 1/2" x 80" x 6 1/2 or 36" x 80" x 6 1/2") which can be purchased at JC Penney, Sears, Target, and WalMart.
  • Clothing (suitable for both warm and cooler weather). Clothing that you can wear in layers is recommended because you will be in and out of air-conditioned environments.
  • Jacket 
  • Umbrella 
  • Personal toiletries (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoos, etc.)
  • Laundry detergent
  • Notebooks and general school supplies
  • A thumb drive or USB
  • Clothes hangers
  • Alarm clock 
  • Swimsuit 
  • Spending money

Other items to consider:

  • Bug Spray
  • Laptop - only if you own one. Otherwise computers are available on campus.
  • Scientific Calculator - only if you have one. Do not purchase one.

Do not bring:

  • Car
  • TV -There is a TV in the main lounge of the residence hall. If you have a TV, it is recommended that you wait until Fall to bring it to campus.
  • Refrigerator -You can rent one here on campus.
  • Candles or Incense
