GST 303 Career Awareness Final Paper Guidelines

The final summary paper should clearly document that your placement was a college-level learning experience. It should be a minimum of 6-8 typed, double-spaced pages (12 point font) but take as many pages as necessary to thoughtfully and completely respond to the topics below.

Each of the following topics should be reviewed and presented in your final summary paper, but you are encouraged to reflect on additional aspects of your experience that were meaningful and memorable. Label each section. You are strongly encouraged to create an outline before you begin writing.

 

The Business/Organization

 

a. The mission and history of the

company or organization.

 

b. The role of your department in the overall scheme of the company’s mission.

 

c. Your role as it relates to the mission and goals of  the department to which you are assigned.

 

Learning Objectives

 

a. Identify each learning objective from  your learning  agreement and document your success in reaching these objectives.

 

b. Describe the specific experiences at your site that enabled and/or disabled you from reaching your objectives.

 

Skills Development

 

a. What skills and knowledge did you bring to  the experience?

 

b. Describe skills and knowledge acquired through your experience.

 

c. What skills do you need to improve or are you still lacking that are necessary for success in your chosen field?

 

Working Relationships

 

a. Describe your supervisor and describe the nature of your working relationship with him/her.

 

Recommendations

 

a. What changes would you recommend at your site?

 

b. If other students were considering this site, what advice would you pass on to them?

 

Conclusion

 

a. Identify what you liked most and least about  your experience at your internship.

 

b. Has this experience affected your career choice? If so, how?

 

c. Discuss how the internship has influenced your career goals.
