The Office of Experience-Based Education offers a full range of credit-bearing internship opportunities to SUNY Oswego undergraduate and graduate students. Over 800 students per year participate in our programs through internships locally, on-campus, throughout the United States and overseas.
The links on the left will direct employers to information about our programs, the benefits of having student interns and will provide options for requesting a student intern by completing a position description form.
Faculty can learn more about our programs, the types of credit students can earn and find out more about the role of a Faculty Sponsor.
We hold weekly Internship Workshops that introduce students to our programs and assist in them in their internship search. Through our web site, we offer tips on Finding an Internship with links to Oswego's Laker Leads Internship and Job Database. Students can review the types of credit we offer, access links to hundreds of internship web sites and register for credit.
International students on an F or J visa must receive prior authorization from the international office before participating in an on or off campus internship. Please view the International Student requirements.
An internship can provide insight into your major, allow you to explore other majors, as well as put you a step above the rest when applying for jobs after graduation. Research shows that on average, students who have completed internships are offered a higher starting salary than students with no internship experience. Students may apply for positions on campus, in the Central New York area, at sites in the major metropolitan areas or even overseas.
Find examples of actual internships with student feedback by browsing our Intern Interviews.
Past SUNY Oswego students have completed internships at the following organizations:
ABC, Academy of Television of Arts & Sciences, CBS, Constellation Energy, Dolphin Research Center, ESPN, First Investors, Google, IBM, KPMG, Los Angeles Police Department, Madison Square Garden, Major League Baseball, Merrill Lynch, MTV, National Weather Service, Nickelodeon, SONY Music Entertainment, Syracuse Chiefs, Target and more!
