Winter 2010

Winter Bird Study at RCFS

Drop by on most Fridays and Saturdays from early November through early April and spend a few minutes with our feathered friends.  Be a citizen scientist as you count the birds at the Rice Creek feeders from our indoor viewing area.  Become familiar with Cornell's Lab of Ornithology's annual survey of birds visiting feeders in the winter.  Information about participating in Project FeederWatch at your own feeders will also be available.  This is a great project for all ages and the entire family.

Rice Creek Rambles

Saturdays 11:00 a.m.

  • February 6, 20
  • March 6, 20

Celebrate the wonders of winter and the early arrivals of spring at Rice Creek.  Call the station the morning of the program to find out if the walk includes a snowshoe hike.  A limited number of snowshoes are available on a first come first served basis.  Our snowshoes will fit most children 10 years of age and older.

An adult must accompany children.  Program size is limited and we are not able to accommodate groups.  There is no program fee.

Nature’s Story Hour

Saturdays at 1:00 p.m.

  • February 13, 27
  • March 13, 27

As the seasons change it is time to gather ‘round the warmth of a good story.  Join us as we share tales of animals, their wild ways, and how we relate to them.  These programs are designed for elementary aged children though all are welcome.

An adult must accompany children under 7 years of age.  Since program size is limited, we are not able to accommodate groups.  There is no program fee.

The 4Es of Energy
