Summer 2009
Rice Creek Rambles
Saturdays 11:00 a.m.
June 6, 13, 27 • July 11, 18, 25 • August 1, 8, 15
A series of naturalist-led walks introducing participants to the smells, sights and sounds of summer will begin at the station's main building.
Those planning to attend are asked to call on the morning of the hike to check trail conditions. Since program size is limited, we are not able to accommodate groups. An adult must accompany children for this admission-free program. No registration is needed.
Early Birders
Saturday June 6, 2009 • 7:00 to 8:30 a.m.
Join master bird bander Jim Keefer for this early morning bird walk and bird banding demonstration. Discover the variety of early summer birds at Rice Creek. This is a drop-in event, come for all or some of the program. An adult must accompany children for this admission-free program. No registration is needed.
Bald Eagles in NYS
Sunday June 14, 2009 • 3:00 p.m.
Senior Wildlife Technician, Mike Allen of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, will present a PowerPoint program concerning the population recovery of the bald eagle in New York over the past 34 years. Learn about NYS DEC's bald eagle restoration program, eagles in our area and see the eagle nest on display. No registration is needed for this admission-free program.
Oswego Tea
Saturday July 11, 2009 • 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Master Gardener Vicki Mather shares her gardening tips about Oswego Tea, our local botanical namesake. After the indoor presentation, join Vicki in Rice Creek's Ruth Sachidanandan Herb Garden to learn more about this and the other plants found there.
No registration is needed for this admission-free program.
