General Instructions for Paper Submission

A template in Microsoft Word that follows the format below, can be downloaded here.

Section 1. Page limitations and Introduction

Each paper is limited to 10 pages in the format and size shown below, including figures, tables and references. 

Section 2. Due dates

Please send your paper electronically as a word file to: "Linda Cook" lcook@oswego.edu by MAY 1.

The paper will be edited and reviewed by a committee from student SCAC and published in Quest Proceeding before last day of spring classes.

Section 3. Software Authors may only use MS Word (please specify the version used)

Section 4. MS Word Format - Text Area and Font Sizes

(1) Margins: Top and bottom =1.25 inches, left 1.88 inches and right 1.0 inches

(2) Text font: 11pt Times New Roman

(3) Interline spacing: 14pt

(4) Paper Title: 16 pt Helvetica (Bold Upper and Lower Case)

(5) Section heads: (Helvetica)

            (a) 1st Section head: 11pt Bold, Upper and Lower Case

            (b) 2nd Section head: 11pt Bold italic, Capitalise 1st letter of 1st word only

            (c) 3rd Section head: 11pt Italic, Capitalise 1st letter of 1st word only

(6) Figure and Table captions are set in 9pt Roman with 11pt for interline spacing

(7) Table entries: 9pt Roman

(8) Running title (footers and headers): 9pt Roman

(9) Reference text: 9pt Roman with interline spacing of 12pt

Section 5. Illustrations and images

Please prepare all color illustrations and photos in high resolution. The requirements are:

(a) 600 dpi for line drawings (black and white)

(b) 300 dpi for color images.

(d) Ensure all labels/annotations are sharp and clear for reproduction.

Easy-to-read typeface/font like Arial, Helvetica or Times Roman are recommended for the labels.

(e) To provide electronic copy of the illustrations in either tif, jpg, or gif format.

All illustrations should be embedded in the text where the author(s) wants them. At the same time provide the illustrations as individual high quality files. Use the correct file names for each illustration, for example: Author_fig1. jpg. Tables and Figures must have appropriate and self explanatory legends. The Table’s caption appears above it and the Figure’s caption appears below it. Anything other than a table is considered a Figure. Figures and Tables must be numbered.

Section 6. Paper Format: Each contributing paper must have sections formatted as indicated in section 4 above. The format of the paper may vary by discipline but each paper must have an abstract and a bibliography formatted in APA style (for APA style see  http://www.oswego.edu/library/ref/APA_style.pdf ). For scientific papers introduction, materials and methods, results, and discussion in addition to abstract and bibliography are required. For humanities and arts any format which includes sections in the proper format discussed in section 4 above is acceptable.
