2008 Programs

¨Elizabeth Kolbert, the author of Field Notes will be on campus March 17, 2009 meeting students, visiting classes, and most notably speaking that evening.

Danny Seo will talk at the fall 2008 campus opening celebration.

On exhibition in the fall at Tyler Art Gallery will be Bruce Conkle who uses art as a medium to express concern and raise awareness about Global Warming.

¨ORI Film Series:

September 2008: An Inconvenient Truth (2006), directed by David Guggenheim and featuring Al Gore’s efforts to raise public awareness about global warming.

October 2008: The Day After Tomorrow (Roland Emmerich, 2004). This movie takes a big-budget, special-effects-filled look at what the world would look like if the greenhouse effect and global warming continued at such levels that they resulted in worldwide catastrophe and disaster.

February 2009: The End of Suburbia, a documentary by Toronto filmmakers Gregory Greene and Barry Silverthorn, interviews a diverse set of experts about global oil production, the rise in oil prices and how this economy will change modern lives through the decline of suburbs, higher food prices, and economic stagnation.
