The Honors Program requirements substitute for General Education requirements.
  • Basic Requirements
    Hon 150
    Eng 204
    Computer Literacy
    Waiver exam or a course selected from the Gen Ed 2000 list
    Foreign Languages
    Successful completion of one language in high school through Regents 3 or 4 plus the same language through the Lan 202 level
    OR
    Successful completion of one language in high school through Regents 3 or 4 plus a different language through the Lan 102 level
    OR
    Candidates for a degree in natural science may take one year of German for Research (Ger 125 and Ger 126)
    Fine & Performing Arts
    Hon 201
    Humanities
    One of the following: Phl 100, Phl 205, Phl 220
    Mathematics
    One of the following: Mat 208 or Mat 210, Mat 106 and Mat 206, Mat 202
    Natural Sciences
    Two, 4-credit natural science courses with lab, may be from the same discipline
    Social & Behavioral Sciences
    Hon 200
    One course selected from the Gen Ed 2000 list
    American History
    Hon 141
    Western Heritage
    Hon 140
    Human Diversity
    One course from the Tolerance & Intolerance in the US and one course from Non-western Civilizations from the Gen Ed 2000 list
    Intellectual Issues
    Hon 300
    Hon 301
    Advanced Expository Writing
    Honors Thesis in major, including oral discourse
