Dr. Jay Button

Jay Button, aka "Grandpa", "Butt", "Yaj-man", or "Geezer", is the Johnson Hall FYRE Faculty Master. He has his Ed.D in Literacy with a concentration in School Programming. He was born on April 27th in Canastota, NY. Jay enjoys alpine skiing, hiking, backpacking, paddling, swimming, reading listening to music, writing poetry and being faculty master. His favorite movie is “Pirates of the Caribbean", his favorite fun books are the Janet Evanovitch Series, and his favorite TV show is The Closer. Family, relationships beyond his family and the wellness of self and others are important to Jay. His long-range goals are to ski every year, live to be 105, and to climb all 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks (of which he has 16 left). He listens to classical music and jazz (Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and show tunes). Jay's favorite apparel is anything that is comfortable and mountain-friendly clothes. Jay’s favorite saying is "If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew, to serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you except the will which says to them: "Hold on!"" - from the poem "If" by Rudyard Kipling.
