Students from Communication Studies Professor, Nola Heidlebaugh's COM 240 class, gave presentations on ways to make the campus at SUNY Oswego more energy efficient. Students presented their audience with the financial and environmental benefits the campus and community at large would garner if the plans were to be implemented. Some of the ideas presented by the students were to develop a Living and Learning Community in Funnelle Hall and to create a human powered gym out of the almost vacant Hewitt Union. Environmentally advantegous ideas presented included: using motion sensored lights, compact fluorescent light bulbs, energy efficient utilities, and aerated shower heads. Presenters also suggested implementing a general education sustainability class. This would give students the opportunity to be more aware of the impact they have on our environment and the implications for the future.
