Tyler Art Gallery presents a multitude of exhibitions in two gallery spaces,
including outstanding traveling exhibitions, locally produced loan exhibitions
and the best work of the students and faculty. Exhibitions are usually
interdisciplinary in nature so that the gallery's programs will be of relevance
to a wide range of campus interests, as well as that of the public at
large.
Tyler Art Gallery is a teaching gallery, regularly used by art classes as a
means of providing an essential opportunity for students to have a direct
encounter with original works of art of professional quality. The gallery also
serves as a training base for the museum studies program, giving students the
opportunity to see and participate in the day-to-day workings of an art
gallery.
The gallery also houses a permanent collection of European, African and
American drawings, prints, paintings, ceramics and sculpture from the 18th
century to the present. The Grant Arnold Collection of Fine Prints contains
over 500 prints by prominent American printmakers of the first half of the
twentieth century.
Gallery hours during the academic year:
Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM
Saturday and Sunday, 12:30 to 4:30 PM
