“[sense of identity]
is what makes Sweet Honey resonate for people of different races and
faiths.”
— The New York Times
Now in its fourth decade, this extraordinary a capella ensemble is steeped
in the sacred music of the black church, the clarion calls of the civil rights
movement and songs about the struggle for justice. With stunning vocal prowess,
Grammy Award-winning Sweet Honey in the Rock captures the complex sounds of
blues spirituals, traditional gospel hymns, rap, reggae, African chants, hip
hop, lullabies and jazz improvisation.
