CSTEP Eligibility
CSTEP serves undergraduate, graduate, or professional school students admitted to IHE’s at two or four year institutions in New York State.Students must be:
New York State residents (minimum 12 months residency requirement);
Economically disadvantage; or
Black, Hispanic, Alaskan Native, or
Native American Indian; and
Enrolled in MST (Math, Science, Technology) or
Licensure qualifying programs listed below include:
- Accounting
- Biological Sciences
- Computer Science
- Information Science
- Education (Math or Science)
- Engineering
- Health Professions
- Law
- Mathematics
- Physical and Natural Sciences
- Psychology
- Social Work
Program Participation Eligibility
- Aspire to achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 each semester
- Meet with the CSTEP Specialist or Coordinator at the beginning of each semester to develop/modify an action plan for the coming year, the contents of which will detail mutually-agreed upon academic and career goals.
- Have TWO additional meetings with the CSTEP Specialist or Coordinator per semester (after mid-term AND before the end of the semester).These meetings must be in person.
- Complete any projects and/or attend any workshops, seminars, tutoring sessions, etc. assigned by the CSTEP Specialist and agreed-to in the action plan.
- Participate in the mentoring program.
- Every participant must submit an updated resume to the CSTEP Specialist every year.
- Maintain good judicial and academic standing with SUNY Oswego and within the chosen major.
- Participate in community service projects in coordination with the CSTEP Specialist and the Office of Experience-Based Education.
- Behave in a professional manner during all CSTEP-funded programs on and off campus.
- Submit requests for funding for research, supplies, travel, etc. in a timely manner.
