Media Summit

Speakers

Organizers of the Lewis B. O'Donnell Media Summit secured some of the top movers and shakers in the industry for the 2010 edition on Oct. 14.

The 3 p.m. panel in the Sheldon Hall ballroom was moderated by Oswego alumna Benita Zahn, WNYT news anchor and winner of the Distinguished Communicator Award from the American Women in Radio and Television.

Our panelists included:

  • Vicki Betihavas, television producer and founder of Nineteen Fifteen, a 3-D HD television production company based in the U.K. She produced the first live 3-D broadcast.
  • Andy Carvin, NPR's senior strategist for social media, who coordinates all of NPR's social media efforts and is actively involved in other projects such as online disaster response.
  • Mike Cassidy, founder and president of Undertone Networks, a full service media company that executes and manages online advertising for advertising agencies and marketing firms.
  • Dr. Jon Landis, education development executive for Apple Computer for the Northeast U.S. The sought-after speaker comes from an academic background, including higher education.

Visiting panelists also visited classes to share their knowledge and tips for students looking to enter the industry.
