Media Summit

Rick Yacobush, a 1977 Oswego graduate, is the market sales manager for Clear Channel Radio in Syracuse. He is a veteran of 34 years of in the evolving Syracuse radio market.

 

His career began with five years on the air as "Your Nighttime Companion, Rick Charles" on WOLF. Then he remembered what he calls "the best advice I ever received." It came from "Doc" O’Donnell, the Media Summit's namesake, during Yacobush's first radio/TV class in 1973:
"If you want a lifelong career in the broadcast industry, always have your eye on the sales department."

That began 29 years in radio sales and sales management including the past 22 years with what today is the Clear Channel cluster of stations, where he has been director of sales and general sales manager. Of O'Donnell, Yacobush says: "His advice paid off for me!"
