UPDATE: If you missed it or just want to hear it again, the
2007 media summit is now available for online listening or download via a wrvo.fm
podcast or Feedburner.
Some of the top names in the media industry discussed "New Technologies +
New Generations = The Media of the Future" at SUNY Oswego's third annual
Louis A. Borrelli Jr. Media Summit. The daylong event on Oct. 17 was
highlighted by the 3 p.m. panel presentation as well as the esteemed panelists
visiting classes and leading small-group discussions. A special and
moving ceremony at the end announced renaming the summit in honor of the
late Lewis B. O'Donnell.
This year's participants included Paul Condolora
(SUNY Oswego '82), senior vice president and general manager for Cartoon
Network New Media; Geraldine B.
Laybourne, founder, chair and CEO of Oxygen Media; Doug
McMonagle, Regional Director of Inergize Digital Media; Shelly Palmer,
managing director of Advanced Media Ventures Group LLC; and Russell Quy,
executive producer of advanced media for TWI Interactive. SUNY Oswego
alumnus Al Roker '76, the weatherman and host for NBC's "Today"
show, will serve as moderator.
The Media
Summit was founded through the generosity of Louis A. Borrelli Jr. (left),
chief executive officer of NEP Broadcasting and a 1977 Oswego graduate.
This year, Roker provided additional funding, with future versions of the
summit to be named in memory of longtime professor Dr. Lewis B. O'Donnell,
a seminal figure in the college experiences of Borrelli and Roker. The
college's
communication studies department coordinates the summit.
