University College Dublin - Faculty of Arts
The University                                  UCD

The University College Dublin (UCD) is the largest of four universities that make up the Irish national university system, and has a history going back to 1851 with James Joyce one of its most famous students.

Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Arts at UCD is the largest of its kind in all the British Isles. Students are directly enrolled in the university, attend the same courses and sit for the same examinations as Irish students. This program is ideal for students of the humanities, liberal arts or social sciences. Students who apply for this program must be juniors, although sophomores with adequate foundation in their fields of study have been accepted.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, no exceptions. Acceptance into the program will be based on academic standing, recommendations, and a personal study statement.

Housing and Meals

Academic year students live in residences located on the UCD campus. Semester-only students may be housed on-campus on a space available basis. If space is not available on campus, which is often the case, students will live in shared flats located off-campus within a 10-15 minute bus ride of the university. Students are responsible for finding their own accommodation, but will be given assistance and a list of student hotels in which they can stay from the time they arrive until accommodation is secured. Most students secure housing within three to five days.
