The University

James Cook University offers high-quality education to more than 2300 students at its campus in Cairns. With the Great Barrier Reef close by, the university offers a wide range of courses with some unique to JCU, such as marine biology. The campus is located in tropical north Queensland, close to the natural attractions of the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage rainforests and lies on the main bus route and bike path between the city and beaches and is a short distance from many shopping centers.

The Townsville campus has a population of about 11,000 students, including 1,000 international students.  The campus is located in a peaceful 368-hectare setting of natural bush and parkland, full of native Australian flora and fauna, and is located in the residential suburb of Doublas, close to the rosee River. 

The Courses

Courses include anthropology, education, exercise science, occupational therapy, computing, journalism, psychology, music and theatre. Its zoology, tropical ecology, and molecular and earth sciences courses are among the most respected in the country.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants must have a Cummulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

The Housing

JCU recommends that students stay at the Unipacific International residence. Meals and utilities are included and there are on-site sports and social activities.
