Summer in Rome
The City                                     Colosseum

Rome is the capital of Italy, the font of religious authority for Catholics, and a memorial to the creative imagination of the past. Known as the Eternal City to which "all roads lead," Rome is nearly as old as Western civilization, and to visit Rome is to experience the past.

The Program

Students on this program will earn six credits. Students will enroll in two, three-credit courses from the following selections.

  • ITA 101 - Elementary Italian
  • ITA 102 - Continuing Elementary Italian
  • ITA 201 - Intermediate Italian
  • ITA 202 - Continuing Intermediate Italian
  • ITA 301 - Advanced Italian A
  • ITA 302 - Advanced Italian B
  • ITA 355 - Italian Culture & Civilization
  • ITA 499 - Independent Study

Students will visit the sites of Ancient Rome: the Colosseum, the Forum, the Pantheon; Renaissance Rome: Vatican City, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistene Chapel; and Modern Rome; and the Vittoro Emanuele II Monument, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Acceptance into the program will be based on academic standing, recommendations, and a personal study statement.

Housing and Meals

In Rome, students are housed in hotels or apartments. Two meals per day (breakfast and dinner) are provided during the program. However, on excursions, students are responsible for their own meals.
