Traveling Abroad was the best thing I ever did. I made life long friends while in Australia and learned so much about a new culture and about myself. It also sparked a passion for travel that I have not been able to quench. I traveled throughout much of Australia and I even did New Zealand all by myself.
This past summer I went backpacking in Europe-more solo travel once again. And I went to visit friends from my time in Australia. I stayed with my friend Karin's family in Alta, a suburb right outside of Stockholm in Sweden, and from there I took a road-trip to a tiny Fjord town called Sand in Norway.
There's no way you can be prepared for the wonderful things that studying abroad will bring into your life. It's going to open up doors of opportunity for you that you never even knew existed. Not only will you further you studies and your future career by making this brave move, but you will learn new things about yourself and your beliefs, and meet some really incredible young people along the way.
My advice: keep an open mind and expect the unexpected. -Genevieve, Oswego alumna 2002

Hi all,
Today I went to the Billabong Sanctuary about 15 km from campus. I had so much fun and took many more pictures that I will be sure to show you when I get back. All of the animals I am holding in the pictures are real and the chance to hold them was an awesome experience. The koala just held on like a baby and was hugging everyone. The wombat was just chillin' folded up as people just handed her back and forth. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I had smiling for them :) I will keep you all updated and full of pictures. It was my third or fourth day in Cairns, Australia. It was the middle of February and about 90 degrees Fahrenheit. I could not help but laugh thinking about my friends in Oswego trudging their way to class in snow drifts up to their waists. Anyway, there was a knock on my door early in the morning. A crew was filming a commercial for the apartment complex next door to us and need 'actors'. They selected me and a few of my friends to be in the lead roles. We spent a few hours filming on the beach and my commercial was on TV 10 times a week.
Another time I was on the beach relaxing with a girl friend when this guy came over to us asking if we would mind being the witnesses to his wedding. He and his wife decided to get married on the beach and asked us to be the best man and maid of honor right there. We did, and then they took us out for post-ceremony cocktails."
