Internships
Any junior or senior enrolled in the CAPA program may do an internship. Placements are available in a variety of fields which match interests, talents, and backgrounds of the students. Internships are for one semester (15 weeks) and earn 6 credit hours. Students who do CAPA internships must also enroll in a special course called PELA (Perspectives on Experiential Learning Abroad). The CAPA internship coordinator will locate an internship in the student’s general area of interest and provide support services on a continual basis throughout the semester. Placements are available at small businesses, corporations, art facilities, government agencies, brokerage houses, publishing companies, museums and radio stations, to mention a few. Specific placements depend on the background and training, interests, and ability of students, as well as their success in securing the internship in an interview during the first few days in London.
Admissions Requirements
Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Acceptance in this program will be based on academic standing, recommendations, and a personal study statement. Due to the popularity of London as a study abroad location, this program is highly competitive.
Housing and Meals
CAPA has several Oswego approved housing facilities that are used during the semester. The number of facilities used is based on the total number of participants enrolled. Most residences are located near the classroom buildings. All have full kitchen facilities. No British students live in the Oswego-designated buildings.
All students on the Oswego-CAPA program are given a weekly allowance for food expenses. Food costs above the stipend are the participant’s responsibility.
