The Site
Sydney is the capital of New South Wales. As the largest city in Australia, it is home to over four million people from around the globe. Citizens of Sydney come from diverse social, cultural and religious backgrounds, making the city a unique site for international study. Sydney is situated on one of the world’s most beautiful natural harbors. It is sandwiched from the north and south by national parks, while to the west lie the Blue Mountains. Students will find a vibrant social and cultural life in Sydney. Spectacular harbors and beaches, botanical gardens, parks, museums, cinemas, and theatres all exist within the boundaries of this modern and vibrant city.
The Internship Program
This program is a six-credit summer program located in the heart of Sydney. The CAPA (Centers for Academic Programs Abroad) internship program provides an opportunity for students to be placed with a local company or organization on a professional team with designated projects and responsibilities on a full-time basis. The Sydney internship supervisor will locate a placement in the student’s general area of interest and provide services on a continual basis throughout the session. Students take the PELA (Perspectives on Experiential Learning Abroad) class, which includes the internship for a total of six credits.
