The Site
In London, SUNY Oswego partners with the CAPA International Education, is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1972 which specializes in education abroad program development for US institutions of higher education. CAPA is dedicated to the principles of "Maximizing Study Abroad" which is the focus of each CAPA center, including London.
The CAPA- UK program is located in South Kensington, one of London’s most exclusive areas, in which one can find the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National History Museum, Covent Garden, and Kensington Palace.
The Program
Students will have several options for the London CAPA Internship/Study Abroad summer program.

Six-credit, six-week internship/PELA class;

Three-credit internship/PELA class & one three-credit course; OR
-
Two three-credit academic courses
Internship placements are available in a wide range of sites, including small businesses, corporations, art facilities, government agencies, brokerage houses, publishing companies, museums, radio stations, and many others. Specific placements depend on the background and training, interest, and ability of students, as well as their success in securing the internship in the interview process held during the first few days in London.
Classes include topics such as:
- BRC 390 - British Broadcasting
- BUS/MKT 390 - International Marketing
- ENG 395 - Post-War British Popular Culture
- POL 307 - European Government & Politics
- PSY 300 - Child Development in a British Context

Admissions Requirements
Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Acceptance into the program will be based on academic standing, recommendations, and a personal study statement. Due to its popularity, this is a highly competitive program.
Housing and Meals
Students are placed in Oswego housing in London in one of several buildings where American students are housed. No British students live in the Oswego-designated buildings. All students on the Oswego-London program are given a weekly allowance for food expenses. Food costs above the stipend are the participant’s responsibility.
Orientation and Excursions
Participants arriving on the group flight will be met at the airport by a member of the CAPA staff. CAPA staff will provide an indepth orientation to London and the program.
CAPA offers a full range of excursions and social events; these include:
- Student Reception
- Field Trips (sites have included, Bath, Stonehenge, etc.)
- Theatre Performances
- Social events (have included holiday dinners, farewell party, etc.)
