Graduate Resident Mentor
Multiple vacancies anticipated for the 2014-2015 academic year
The Department of Residence Life and Housing at SUNY Oswego is seeking qualified applicants for our Graduate Resident Mentor (GRM) position; this is a live-in, half-time Graduate Assistantship in the Hart Global Living and Learning Center. The GRM’s responsibilities include facilitating the development of community among residents in the hall and on the GRM’s assigned floor, encouraging and supporting learning, mutual respect and appreciation of others. Other specific responsibilities include serving as Teaching Assistant for a one-credit course taken by all residents and assisting in the coordination of the community service component of the Hart Hall program.
Bachelor’s degree and matriculation into a SUNY Oswego Graduate Program by August 1, 2014, required. Preferred qualifications include: an understanding of global and international issues; fluency in language(s) other than English; experience in teaching, community service, global or international endeavors and/or mentoring.
Compensation includes tuition waiver for six (6) credits and $1000 stipend each semester. A furnished one-bedroom apartment and parking are provided; occupancy of the apartment is for the term of employment. A full meal plan is provided when classes are in session during the fall and spring academic semesters. Health insurance is available through the Graduate Assistant Union.
