Advisement Graduate Assistant, C&I Department
The Curriculum & Instruction Department has Graduate Assistantship openings for 2014-15. Responsibilities include:
Assist advisement coordinator in department advisement office, primary functions include advisement, maintaining records, answering questions about major requirements, registration, forms and procedures, teaching certification application process, and state certification exams.
Assist with presentations and appointments with department undergraduate students, as well as with potential students on college visits;
Assist with various communications (editing for publications and web, social media and listserv);
Review student teaching applications and senior checklists, submit data collected to department;
Email correspondence with current students and faculty, prospective students, families and others;
Other related projects as needed (databases, collecting/organizing field experience/evaluation files, filing, telephone, etc.)
Collection of data about teacher certification exams, assist with exam workshops , maintain individualized planning and meeting records for certification exam remediation.
A successful candidate will have knowledge of both degree and certification requirements for teachers in NY State. The candidate will have excellent organization, interpersonal skills, both written and oral, and maintain high levels of confidentiality and integrity. The candidate must be comfortable using technology.
