			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Office of Learning Services Graduate Assistant/Tutor Employment Description</p>
<p>The Office of Learning Services (OLS) is charged with the provision of tutoring services for the SUNY Oswego campus and is comprised of the Writing, Learning, and Math &amp; Natural Sciences Tutoring Centers. Professional OLS staff includes the Director, the Coordinator of the Math &amp; Natural Sciences Center, the Math Specialist, the Learning Specialist, and the Writing Specialist.  OLS employs two graduate assistants to assist in all areas of the tutoring operation.</p>
<p>Tutoring Services are delivered using a predominantly peer-tutor model with over 100 peer tutors who serve more than 1000 SUNY Oswego students each semester.  OLS also employs undergraduate student workers as desk attendants, lab attendants, and main office workers.  </p>
<p>Responsibilities<br />
•	Promote a student-centered environment that is professional and supportive.<br />
•	Provide 8-10 hours of tutoring per week in courses aligned with your discipline of<br />
        study<br />
•	Involvement and participation in all tutor training activities<br />
•	Provide supplemental information and referrals to students utilizing tutoring<br />
        services<br />
•	Compile departmental data for annual reports<br />
•	Participate in staff meetings and activities<br />
•	Development of a professional development project associated with tutoring services<br />
•	Provide campus wide marketing and promotional materials<br />
•	Perform general office duties</p>
<p>Required Qualifications<br />
•	Applicants MUST be a matriculated, full time graduate student by fall 2013.<br />
•	Excellent interpersonal and communication skills<br />
•	Be available 20 hours per week, including some nights and/or weekends</p>
<p>Preferred Qualifications<br />
•	Experience in tutoring undergraduate level courses<br />
•	Experience with the use of Excel and Word for statistical data entry and report<br />
        creation.<br />
•	Ability to master the use of new software.  </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Graduate Assistant for Graphic Design is a member of SUNY Oswego&#8217;s Web Communications team in the college&#8217;s Office of Public Affairs. The assistant works with the Web Support Specialist, Web Coordinator, Director of Web Communications and Director of Public Affairs to prepare primarily online visual presentations by designing art and copy layouts for Web pages and infographics.</p>
<p>Duties include gathering and studying information and materials, submitting rough layouts for approval, and preparing final layouts according to specifications from the Web Support Specialist and, on occasion, printers. </p>
<p>Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for graduate study at SUNY Oswego for the 2013-14 academic year. </p>
<p>Required skills include demonstrated graphic design and layout skills, including creating icons, charts and graphs, and experience with such tools as Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver and some familiarity with Ingeniux, WordPress or similar content management system, and HTML, CSS and Javascript. Also necessary for satisfactory performance in the position are attention to detail, creativity within prescribed parameters, and ability to meet deadlines, stay flexible and be persistent.</p>
<p>Compensation: Stipend and/or tuition dollars</p>
<p>Employment term: 10-20 hours per week, fall 2013 semester, with potential for reappointment in spring 2014</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Program Overview<br />
The Event Management Office is a division of the Department of Campus Life. The staff and students who work within the Event Management Office are responsible for the daytime, evening, and weekend operations of the Campus Center. The Event Management Office staff is responsible for reservations, event planning, and event support for events hosted on campus. In addition to the Campus Center, the staff provides support for events in Hewitt Union and Sheldon Hall as needed.  </p>
<p>Position Responsibilities<br />
1.	Primary work hours: evenings from 6pm – close on weekdays; and weekends.<br />
2.	Supervision of Building Manager Staff (including but not limited to):<br />
•	Have an understanding of the essential functions and expectations of the student Building Manager staff<br />
•	Coordinate recruitment of student staff – collect and review applications, schedule and conduct interviews, provide follow up with candidates, complete all necessary paperwork as required (including hiring forms)<br />
•	Assist in the development of Building Manager training.  Revise and update training materials as needed each semester<br />
•	Schedule Building Managers for regular coverage at the Welcome Center and for special events as needed<br />
•	Process Building Manager payroll<br />
•	Conduct monthly staff meetings<br />
•	Supervise and evaluate Building Manager performance<br />
3.	Work collaboratively with the student Event Support Assistant to provide evening and weekend coverage.<br />
4.	Develop extensive knowledge of the Campus Center complex, Sheldon Hall and Hewitt Union.<br />
5.	Develop working knowledge of audio-visual equipment.<br />
6.	Develop working knowledge of the reservation software (R25) and ANGEL.  Manage and update ANGEL as required.<br />
7.	Work cooperatively with the student Event Support Assistant to ensure coordination between Building Managers and other staff as determined for events.<br />
8.	Participate in weekly supervision meetings with supervisor; participate in other meetings and training sessions as deemed appropriate.<br />
9.	Assist in special projects, departmentally coordinated events, and committees as assigned by supervisor.<br />
10.	Provide coverage at Welcome Center when needed or requested by professional staff.</p>
<p>Qualifications<br />
The successful candidate will present evidence of the following:<br />
1.	Full matriculation into a graduate program at SUNY Oswego.<br />
2.	Ability to write clearly and concisely in a style that effectively communicates information to students, faculty, and staff.<br />
3.	Ability to work as an effective member of a professional team.<br />
4.	Ability to use computer word-processing, desktop publishing, and other software programs.<br />
5.	Organizational skills, effective time management skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and high levels of integrity, energy, and enthusiasm.</p>
<p>Appointment<br />
•	The term of appointment runs from two weeks prior to the first day of classes (August 12, 2013) in Fall 2013 May 31, 2014, excluding academic recesses.<br />
•	The Graduate Assistant for Evening and Weekend Operations is expected to work twenty (20) hours per week, excluding applicable holidays, during the term of appointment. Regular evening and weekend hours are required.<br />
•	Evening and weekend hours are required as determined by the Conference &amp; Event Coordinator.</p>
<p>Remuneration &amp; Privileges</p>
<p>The Graduate Assistant must be a full-time, matriculated graduate student at SUNY Oswego and enrolled in no more than 9 credit hours per semester. Remuneration – $8,680 (stipend with tuition waiver or stipend only).  Additional benefits include: health insurance available, free employee parking, 10% off new textbooks from the college store, extended time borrowing books from the library and opportunities for professional development.</p>

<p>Student Involvement is part of the Department of Campus Life.  Student Involvement staff coordinate a variety of services to help students, student organizations and their advisors maximize involvement and enhance the overall success of student organizations. Student Involvement coordinates the annual registration process for student organizations, risk management training, the student involvement fair (with Student Association) and the Student Involvement Awards process and ceremony. Student Involvement staff plan and facilitate the annual ALANA Multicultural Leadership conference, provide advisement to the Greek Council and Greek governance bodies and assists with the coordination of the college’s Leadership Development programs.  Student Involvement coordinates the student organization workspace and storage unit allocation process for The Point, Student Media offices and student organization storage units along with administering the policies and procedures for the student organization community, which is The Point.</p>
<p>Position Responsibilities</p>
<p>The Graduate Assistant will be an active team member and is expected to provide input toward the work of Student Involvement including evaluation of those programs and services provided to the campus community.  The Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Director of Student Involvement and will be responsible for the following:</p>
<p>1.	Assist with the daily operations of The Point as assigned by supervisor and actively participates in the administration of the registration process for student organizations.<br />
2.	Provide a lead role in the administration of student organization workspaces and storage units.<br />
3.	Assist in coordination and implementation of the Student Involvement Fair, ALANA, the Student Involvement Awards, the Student Involvement &amp; Leadership Series, Leadership Development programs and other programs coordinated by the Department of Campus Life and the Division of Student Affairs.<br />
4.	Serve as a resource and guide for student organization members and advisors on the policies and procedures of The Point, the Student Handbook, Campus Life and other information pertinent to student organizations.<br />
5.	Produce and distribute the monthly Student Involvement newsletter.<br />
6.	Assist in the maintenance and administration of the Student Involvement web page, multiple listserves along with managing the Award’s process in Angel.<br />
7.	Produce statistics and gather assessment data on various topics as assigned by supervisor.<br />
8.	Assist in the advisement and/or programs of Greek Council and member chapters.<br />
9.    Other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor.</p>

<p>Position Description:</p>
<p>This position will provide higher education experience in the areas of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs. The Compass Graduate Assistant will work with other staff members to provide a welcoming office environment that offers students diverse opportunities to engage in their educational planning process during every stage of their academic career. The Compass Graduate Assistant is responsible for becoming familiar with the programs, resources, and functions of the Compass.  </p>
<p>Responsibilities:</p>
<p>Provide supervision to undergraduate student interns (Navigators).<br />
Provide supervision to Advanced Navigators.<br />
Assist in creating and maintaining a student-centered environment in the Compass Resource Center that is professional and supportive.<br />
Support Compass student intern program including co-instruction of course.<br />
Schedule intern office hours and staff meetings.<br />
Prepare and lead presentations, staff development and training sessions for interns.<br />
Assist Compass staff with program development and implementation.<br />
Communicate with campus community through various mediums including listservs, podcasts, workshops, and classroom presentations.<br />
Be knowledgeable about Compass student resource areas and their functions in order to provide students appropriate services, resources, and information.<br />
Assist students in the Compass Resource Center with resources such as:<br />
Major Exploration and Confirmation<br />
Self-Assessment and Career Exploration Software<br />
Enrollment in MyPlan<br />
Internship, Volunteer and Service Learning database search<br />
Registration for workshops, mock interviews, and special events<br />
Starting a resume and initializing a job/graduate school search<br />
Must be available for weekly staff training and Compass Intern class (Tuesdays at 8:15am-9:15am)<br />
Other duties as assigned</p>
<p>Terms of Employment/Compensation:</p>
<p>This is a year-long assistantship starting August 22, 2013 to June 1, 2014. Graduate Assistant must be a full-time, matriculated graduate student at SUNY Oswego and enroll in no more than 9 credit hours per semester.<br />
Remuneration for the year is $8400 stipend for 20 hours per-week.  Additional benefits include: health insurance available, free employee parking, 10% off new textbooks from the college store, and opportunities for professional development.</p>

<p>Program Overview</p>
<p>Campus Recreation is a division of the Department of Campus Life that provides a variety of fun filled, health promoting, physical and recreational activities conducive to wellness and personal development.  Students, faculty, and staff participate in these activities through the following programs and services: intramural sports, open recreation, sport clubs, special events, and instructional programs.</p>
<p>Position Responsibilities</p>
<p>The Graduate Assistant for Special Events will serve as a member of the Campus Recreation staff.  The Graduate Assistant will be an active team member and is expected to provide input toward the work of Campus Recreation including the evaluation of programs and services provided to the University community.  The Graduate Assistant reports to the Director of Campus Recreation.  The Graduate Assistant is responsible for the following:</p>
<p>1.	Assist in planning, organizing, supervising, implementing, and evaluating all aspects associated with Special Events.  Specific responsibilities include: plan and organize special events; work closely with the marketing team staff to promote events; arrange for food and beverages with Campus Catering where appropriate; work in conjunction with other groups and organizations on collaborative events; solicit  businesses, other departments, and the local community for donations or incentives and prizes for events where appropriate; and work closely with Campus Recreation and Campus Life to schedule space for events.</p>
<p>2.	Assist the student reservation assistant with any necessary aspects of facility reservations.  Assist the marketing and promotion team with Campus Recreation publicity. </p>
<p>3.	This position is 20 hours per week.  The work week will consist of days or evenings, weekends and office hours.  The work schedule will need to be flexible and may vary to accommodate programs and special events.  </p>
<p>4.	Develop new program proposals and initiatives for the campus community.</p>
<p>5.	Participate in weekly staff meetings, student orientation and training sessions as deemed appropriate, and one on one meetings with supervisors. </p>

The Fitness Centers operate under the department of Residence Life and Housing, located in residential complexes, both centers offer roughly the same exercise equipment, which include free weights, selectorized circuits and a variety of cardio equipment (such as treadmills, stationary bikes and elliptical trainers). The centers are non-profit facilities, run primarily from the income derived from membership fees of the students, faculty and staff. A student staff of approximately 60 employees (desk staff, personal trainers, group exercise instructors and student managers) operates the centers. A full time, professional manager and graduate assistant direct the entire fitness center operation. </span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">Job Description and Responsibilities</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">The graduate assistant for the Fitness Centers works with the Fitness Center Manager in assuring the efficient and effective functioning of the both facilities. This position reports directly to the manager and includes some night and weekend hours.<span>  </span>Responsibilities include:</span></p>

The graduate assistant is not obligated to be present during periods of academic recess; however, he/she is expected to be available for duties related to training and preparation for the upcoming semester. The assistantship is for a maximum of two years, contingent upon acceptable performance in the position. Summer work may be offered depending on availability of funding.</span></li>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 18.6pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; color: #222222;" lang="EN">The Summer Intensive English Program is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as working professionals. Students will develop and improve English language skills through four hours of course instruction per day (Monday-Friday) through listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, grammar and writing. Students will be given daily homework assignments, quizzes and finals. Students may participate in optional tutoring sessions scheduled in the evenings. Students will receive college credits and a certificate upon satisfactory completion of the course. Students will also go on two weekend trips (to NYC and Boston) and a day trip to Niagara Falls. </span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';">The mission of this program is to provide students with an environment that ensures they will have an enjoyable and productive learning experience. </span></p>

Additionally, this graduate student will help coordinate an intensive summer program for all O-RITE Apprentice Teachers, and a symposium for all O-RITE Mentor Teachers (hosting up to 79 people on campus over the course of 4 weeks in Summer 2013).</span></span></span></p>
