Extend your talent into the field of teaching. As a student in SUNY Oswego's MAT Chemistry program, you will learn the pedagogical skills to take your love of chemistry into the classroom.
America needs STEM
America needs teachers in the STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology and Math) disciplines. As a graduate of this program, you will be able to enhance science education for students in grades 7-12.
As a student in this program, you will develop a professional portfolio through coursework in chemistry and education. You will gain real world experience through field placement and student teaching experiences.
Tailor to your chemistry interests
As a graduate of this program, you will be eligible to earn your NYSED initial teaching certification. You can tailor your chemistry education to best suit your interests, and choose to take elective courses in analytic, inorganic, organic, biochemistry or physical chemistry or a combination of all disciplines.
