Non-Degree Students



If you are interested in taking graduate level courses without entering a degree program you must apply as a non-degree student.

Read the following information prior to applying

  • You must submit an unofficial transcript showing evidence of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college to the Graduate Office before you will be permitted to register for graduate level courses. NOTE: Please verify that the name of the Degree granting college is on the Transcript. If you earned your degree at SUNY Oswego you do not need to supply us with your transcripts.

  • You must meet all course prerequisites prior to taking a graduate level course.
  • No more than nine credit hours of work completed prior to admission to a degree program will be allowed as transfer credit for application to the degree program. This nine credit hour total includes any off-campus, prior to admission to the degree program course work.
  • No more than six credit hours may be transferred from other institutions into a degree program at SUNY Oswego.
  • If you are contemplating entering a degree program, but choose to take non-degree courses at this time, it is recommended that you seek advice from the department where the degree is offered.
