Applying to SUNY Oswego for Graduate Admission

Welcome to the State University of New York at Oswego [SUNY Oswego]. There are three main criteria for admission:

  • Documented, strong academic work, received on an official transcript from all appropriate and prior schools.

  • Documented adequate financial support, readily accessible within the USA. Financial Documentation Form for all graduate applications.

  • Documented English language abilities. This may include national language, mother tongue, language of prior degree or secondary school study, or appropriate IELTS or TOEFL scores. For further information see English for Academic Purposes. SUNY Oswego's TOEFL code is 2543.

Admissions Process For International Graduate Applicants

Admission to graduate degree status at SUNY Oswego is limited to those students whose formal applications and credentials meet the admission standards (as noted in the graduate catalog) established by the academic department to which the candidate is applying. Although the College attempts to admit all qualified applicants, fiscal constraints may limit the number of new admissions in any or all programs.

The application process for Graduate Study at SUNY Oswego is currently a paper only process. Please read all of the information below and follow the steps to apply.

  • Applications should be complete in all respects by November 1st for the Spring/January semester and by May 1st (April 15th for MBA ONLY) for the Fall/August semester.

  • Each graduate program utilizes a separate graduate application packet that is program-specific and self-managed by the applicant. The applicant is responsible for submitting the completed application and all required components, including official transcripts, recommendations, and test scores to the Graduate Office by the appropriate departmental deadline.

  • Incomplete applications will not be forwarded to the department for review.

Please note: A nonrefundable $50 application fee is required.

Transcripts

You must request that your undergraduate institution send the transcript directly to SUNY Oswego at the address on the application form.

NOTE: Failure to report all previous college attendance on your application is considered academic dishonesty. Discovery of such dishonesty will result in no transfer of credit and can result in suspension from SUNY Oswego.
