1.Approval of Minutes for September 30, 2005. The minutes were
approved as written.
2. Report of Graduate Dean. Dr. King reported the following
items:
- The Graduate View Book is currently at the printers. The next step of
working with individual departments to develop program specific materials will
begin soon. Also a consultant is being sought to assist individual
departments develop their graduate web sites. There will be one standard
format for these web sites.
- Dr. King and Kevi have been attending Graduate Fairs throughout NYS.
There are about a dozen scheduled for the Fall semester.
- International Education is working with the Graduate Studies Office to
promote Oswego’s graduate programs abroad - most recently in India.
- Dr. King is currently negotiating with faculty at Oneonta to serve as a
review person on an Outside Review Committee for the MAT English Program.
- Faculty representatives from the Math and Curriculum and Instruction
Department met to make revisions to the MAT Math in response to the Outside
Review report. This program will soon be moving through the review
process on campus.
- The administration is continuing to move forward in continuing the
development of 5-Year Programs at Oswego.
- The 9sh limit guideline is now being implemented by the Registrar’s
office.
- Dr. King and the Research Office are currently completing a review of
enrollment over the last 10 years. The results of this work will be
reported at the next meeting.
- Departments are encouraged to develop listservs for each of their
programs. This would facilitate notifying graduate students of
opportunities on campus.
3. Report of Council Chair. Dr. Vanouse reported the following
items:
- MBA 520 proposed course outline was distributed.
- There is still a need for a graduate student representative on the Academic
Integrity Task Force.
- There is a need to have a graduate student representative on the Committee
Recommending a person for Distinguished Professor.
- Dr. Vanouse distributed a copy of the registration form for graduate
students. The Registrar is asking the Council to review this.
- Dr. Vanouse announced that there is a graduate level Writing Arts course
outline coming soon.
4. Old Business.
a.
Technology Course Approval.The following Technology course were as written:

- TED 531 History and Philosophy of Technology Education
- TED 532 Advanced Instructional Methodologies for Technology Education
- TED 533 Curriculum Development for Technology Education
- TED 534 Assessment in Technology Education
- TED 535 Laboratory Instructional Environments in Technology Education
b. Course proposal format for Special Topics
courses. EDU 505 Topics in Education was distributed with the
agenda. G. Klatksy distributed HCI 530 Seminar in Contemporary Topics in
HCI. Others indicated that they knew of other outlined that might
be used for samples. Thus, the item was tabled.
c. Curriculum and Instruction Course
approval. The following two courses were approved as written:

- ADO 593 Field Experience III: Planning and Teaching
- ADO 594 Interdisciplinary Methods: Grades 7-12
- ADO 530 Culminating Seminar was not reviewed due to a request from the
C&I Department. It will be resubmitted at a later date.
5. New Business: The following items were distributed and/or added to the
next agenda:
