- Approval of Minutes. Minutes of November 18, 2005 were
approved as written.
- Graduate Dean’s Report.
- New information concerning the New SUNY Guidelines for submission of
Graduate Programs was shared.
- There have been meetings with Cynthia Clabough for the purpose of beginning
the designs for individual department’s graduate program pamphlets.
- The Graduate Office and SUNY are still having difficulty trying to locate a
NYS English Educator with experience in MAT programs to serve as an outside
reviewer for the proposed MAT English program.
- The HCI/PSY program is now off campus for approval.
- A report is being prepared for the President about the possibilities of
having a Syracuse site for graduate classes.
- The possibility of having some engineering programs was brought to the
table. These would require additional funding from the state and most
likely be 5-year programs. Currently there is a Software and Systems
Engineering program proposal awaiting action at APC.
- Julie Blissert, Walter Opello, and Yvonne Petrella are all becoming more
involved in the marketing of graduate programs at Oswego.
- Enrollment trends at the graduate level will be a “hot topic” in the spring
semester due to the need to maintain campus numbers and the likelihood of
undergraduate numbers decreasing.
- Chair’s Report
- A graduate student is still being sought to serve on the Task Force of
Conflict of Interest.
- Dates for the Spring meetings are: February 3 and 17, March 3 and 24, April
7 and 21, and May 5.
- Questions concerning the final sign-off signatures for new courses and the
Routing Form were presented.
- Old Business
- Program Announcement Routing Form. After a brief discussion, this was
approved.
- Routing form for Academic Programs: New and Revised. After brief
discussion this was approved.
- Issues Regarding Registration Form. The stated policy of permitting
only 9sh of graduate study prior to entering a program was confirmed.
- HCI electives change. The Director of the HCI program, G. Klatsky
requested that Catalog copy for electives in the program be changed to
include “additional electives under advisement.” This request was
approved.
- Technology Education Courses. Since there was no one present to
present the courses, this item was tabled until a later meeting.
- New Business.
- CAS School Building/District Leadership Revisions. B. Silky presented
the revisions and a rationale for the changes: NYS has new certification
guidelines. After a brief discussion, the revisions were approved.
