Graduate Council Minutes – November 17, 2006

Approval of Minutes: The October 6, 2006 minutes were
approved as written.
Dean’s Report:
- Attendance at Graduate Week was good with 45-50 in attendance at the panels
that were a part of the total 7-weeks.
- Progress is being made on the department websites.
- Dean King provided the Council with information about the Festa Fellowships
that is given students who are in leadership roles. Applications will be
available in the near future for summer 2007 fellowships.
- A copy of the 4th Draft of assistantship guidelines along with a
department request form was shared with the Council. It is planned
that there will be some new teaching and research assistantships in the future
as well as assistantship support for summer study/work.
- The Graduate Studies Office is in the process of developing information for
a brochure and for the website about funding resources for students in Graduate
Studies at Oswego.
W. Silky asked for an update on the Metro Center. D. King replied that
there are plans to have the first courses offered there in fall 2007. He
will be working with program directors to decide the courses that will
initially be offered there.
G. Klatsky asked about the status of the BA Psychology/MBA program. D.
King reported that he had no information from Albany but would check on it.
Chair’s Report:
D. Vanouse reminded the Council that there is still no student
representative serving on the Council. He asked members to consider
inviting a student that might be interested.
VTP 551 Curriculum Integration and Differentiating Instruction in
Career and Technical Education – K.Bisbee moved approval; J. Smith
seconded. E. Basualdo answered questions about the course. The
course was approved after a brief discussion.
Meeting adjourned at 9:15. The next meeting will be December 1, 2006
at 8:00.
