1. Graduate Council Web Page. Mike Smith, Kevi
McNeilly, and Mia Puzo presented the current work on the web page for the
Council specifically the types of input needed and out put available for
submitting a course proposal to Graduate Council. There were questions
about the advantages of electronic submission and the limitations of the Omni
program. Other questions included concern for the amount of work this
would create for departments; who will be responsible for keeping information
on the site updated; and where this site would be linked to. Kevi
provided hard copies of the site-to-date. After some discussion, B. Silky
motioned approval on a trial basis for the 2006-07 academic year; G. Klatsky
seconded. The motion was unanimously approved.
2. Minutes of September 22, 2006. After a brief review, the
minutes of September 22 were approved as written.
3. Graduate Dean’s Report.
- The Mat in Math cannot be voted on in FA until the Priorities and Planning
Council approve it. However, there appear to be no problems, just a
routine review.
- Finally, there have been two people found to act as outside reviewers for
the MAT in English. This review will take place on early
November.
- Dr. King reminded all about the Graduate Fair Week: October 30 – November
3. All were encouraged to urge their department members and students to
attend.
- Two of Cynthia Clabough’s graphics students have begun web site improvement
with the departments who currently have no graduate web sites. Sites will
include information from the new brochures, catalog information and
faculty.
4. Chair’s Report. There was nothing to report at
this time.
Meeting adjourned at 9:05. The next meeting will be October 20 at 8:00
in 302 Poucher Hall.
